I am poet, artist, folk magician, herbalist, spiritualist, Reiki master, witch and philosopher. I find inspiration in Haitian Vodou and the African diaspora; Asian and Pacific spiritualities; indigenous lifeways; Faery; Chaos Magic; Discordianism; Science Fiction; Gnostic Christianity; Roman Catholicism; European witchcraft; Mediterranean, Egyptian, Celtic and Germanic paganisms; and other streams of wisdom ancient and modern from at home and all over the globe and beyond. I am a "hounsi lave tet" or "hounsi kanzwe" initiate of the Flower of Abomey Society of Haitian Vodou based in New Orleans, LA, USA.
"Glass half empty or half full? Just a glass. Drink!"
I was initiated in New Orleans by Houngan Aboudja in 2001 under the auspices of Manbo Marie Carmel Charles of Freeport, NY. I have a passion for the Faery Pentagrams of Iron and Pearl, for song and chant, and for astronomical esoterica, and as a Native Texan I bring my love of Texas and her flora, fauna, and geography into my work. I am active in the Reclaiming Tradition of Witchcraft with Tejas Web (Tejasweb.org) where I use technology to weave community. I'm also gay and single. My home page on the World Wide Web is at Mike-Rock.com. I live in Austin, Tx. Long live Barton Springs!
